The Artist, Lisbeth Lanpher

"I found I could say things with colors and shapes that I couldn't say any other way-things I had no words for."  Georgia O'Keefe

I have been an artist all of my life.  Growing up in Cleveland Ohio, I was fortunate to have an Aunt who would take me to the Cleveland Museum of Art when I was a little girl.  My art did not look like what I saw in the museum, so I didn't think of myself as an artist until I was regularly asked by various people to make art projects for them.  I designed t-shirt and book covers, painted murals and drew pictures of people's pets.  I went to college to study something "practical" and someone suggested Occupational Therapy Assisting which combined art with therapy. The jobs in O.T.A. were scarce, and I pursued other unrelated jobs. During this time I continued to make art, taught art classes to children, adults and senior citizens.  I took college courses off and on over the years and finally completed my Bachelor Degree in Fine Art in my forties.  I still had the desire to help people and went back to school to pursue a Master's Degree in Art Therapy.
